International Stop the Violence Alliance, Inc. invites media to cover a landmark evening celebrating service, leadership, unity, and the people shaping America’s future
CHERRY HILL, N.J. — As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, International Stop the Violence Alliance, Inc. will convene a rare cross-section of public-safety executives, elected officials, international diplomats, reentry advocates, educators, community leaders, and professional sports figures for the America’s 250 Years of Independence Celebration Gala on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. September 12, 2026 is also National Women in Law Enforcement Day.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with the formal gala program beginning at 6:00 p.m.
More than a commemorative gala, the America’s 250 Years of Independence Celebration Gala will spotlight the living legacy of American service and diversity: the leaders, institutions, and everyday changemakers who protect communities, expand opportunity, mentor young people, and inspire the next generation. The evening will recognize outstanding achievement across public safety, government, international diplomacy, athletics, education, civic service, and community leadership. Women in law enforcement will also be recognized.
“America’s 250th anniversary calls us to honor more than our history. It calls us to recognize the people who carry the nation’s values forward every day,” said Dr. Stephné R. Coney, Founder and CEO of International Stop the Violence Alliance, Inc. “This gala will bring together remarkable leaders whose lives demonstrate courage, achievement, resilience, and a deep commitment to the communities they serve. Their stories deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.”
The gala will feature an international component with representatives from various countries presenting flags showing the cultural diversity and support within the United States.
NBC10/Telemundo62 Bilingual First Alert Meteorologist Marvin Gomez will serve as our emcee and host. He will also receive The Voice of Purpose Award.
DISTINGUISHED HONOREES AND KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
The gala will feature a dynamic group of honorees and special guests whose leadership extends from New Jersey to the national and international stage:
Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, will deliver the evening’s keynote address. A veteran public-safety executive with more than three decades of law-enforcement experience, Noble previously served as Deputy Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police before assuming leadership of the Massachusetts State Police.
Acting Colonel Jeanne Hengemuhle, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, will receive the Chief Louis “Lou” Cannon Medal.
Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, will receive the Rosa Parks Medal in recognition of her public service, civic leadership, and advocacy for the people and communities she represents.
The Honorable Jim McGreevey, former Governor of New Jersey, will receive the National Reentry Leadership and Community Reintegration Award for leadership that advances second chances, workforce opportunity, and successful reintegration for individuals returning to their communities.
The Honorable Christopher Chaplin, Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Philadelphia, will receive the International Diplomat of the Year Award for service that strengthens international understanding, community connection, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Bobby Simmons, former New Jersey Nets forward, NBA veteran, and 2005 NBA Most Improved Player, will receive the Distinguished Professional Basketball Achievement Award. Simmons played for the New Jersey Nets from 2008 to 2010 and was named the NBA’s 2004–05 Most Improved Player while with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jacob Gillison, former aide to Congressman John Lewis, will receive the Congressman John R. Lewis Medal.
Jim Ford, President of the NJ Fraternal Order of Police, will receive the Chief Louis “Lou” Cannon Medal.
Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre, 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will receive the Congresswoman Barbara C. Jordan Medal.
The Indian Battalion Color Guard from Lenape High School will present the colors to begin the program.

The America’s 250 Years of Independence Celebration Gala will pay particular tribute to the service and impact of women in law enforcement, members and leadership of the New Jersey State Police, educators, and community leaders. The program will elevate those whose dedication promotes public safety, mentorship, opportunity, and stronger neighborhoods.
These recognitions reflect the gala’s belief that the country’s next 250 years will be shaped not only by historic institutions, but also by the individuals who lead with courage, show up for their communities, and create opportunity for others.
The evening will bring attention to the contributions of women serving across law enforcement and public safety—professionals who help lead, protect, mentor, and strengthen communities throughout New Jersey and beyond. New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement, a professional organization serving active and retired officers, is among the event’s supporters.
